Just flew in this season. We’ve seen a pretty high standard from Pharah in Overwatch. Will this legend be able to compete in the sky with her? Will she pass with flying colours?

Intricate Detail 1/5

Not the worst rare by any means but definitely the worst skin for Valkyrie this season. The print on this skin is beautiful with the cherry blossom on the red background, similar to that of a kimono. Having said that, the hair has lost it’s lilac colour and the other elements just look like grey factory issue. It’s free so it’s not absolutely despicable but for a bit more cash there are much better options.

Turquoise Sun 3/5

This is a very clean skin for Valkyrie courtesy of the best bundle in the game, as mentioned in literally every new legend blog! Reminiscent of season 7, the cyan colours and light gold geometric patterns on this wings give this skin a very clean futuristic fashion moment. The hair has gone platinum which still works while staying true to her original style.

Punk Rocket 3/5

This is a lot but it seems to all work! The punk vibe comes across from just a glance and from each piece that makes this skin. Before any gunfire, enemies will be assaulted with blasts of red, yellow and green on this black canvas. Whether in the tartan pants, the graffiti strokes or blonde fringe, Valkyrie knows she looks good and doesn’t care if anyone else does. Pretty worth noting the graffiti on the chest is the predator symbol still keeping relevance to her lore. This wouldn’t look good on everyone but she certainly knows how to rocket.

Birthright 4/5

Honestly one of the best thought out skins in the game. The tie in with her backstory is the main feature of this skin. The main features reference the titan her Father flew as seen in Titanfall 2 called Viper. The silhouette is very similar with the bulky head and midsection imbalanced by the bottom half. Her helmet resembles that of a Predator Pilot of whom she has painted the symbol of on her chest. It really looks as if this gear has been handed down and done up for her to honour her heritage. She will certainly blast off in popularity with more skins like this.

Titan Tested 5/5

Her first base game legendary. This is so original and yet so retro! It’s like a throwback to 90’s toys from Japan that tended to look a little bulkier often with white being a key colour. This skin changes up her silhouette in that it’s way more protected without being inhibiting. The colours are very strong and appealing like a toy figure and small sticker details are there in the predator symbol on the chest and the Apex Symbols on the legs that further the toy figure idea. This swept crimson hairdo makes her look youthful and edgy while being similar to her original do. This skin is Mecha animé, it’s super Sentai, it’s Tekkaman and it’s available for a low low price so get it now!

Azure Blessing 5/5

While the last skin was retro to the nineties, this skin is retro to the point of historical! Valkyrie is giving Egyptian scarab beetle and is looking rich and royal and ready for battle. While the gold variant is striking, this less obvious colour scheme actually looks more expensive like some sort of lost relic. The silver with the red looks royal and deadly. The winged boots that match the helm with that red jewel portray her as some kind of deity. These apparatus just below the wings have an interesting style that brings attention to them. Arguably the best Valkyrie skins so far and hopefully there will be more soon to match the standard.

This is possibly the most successful set of skins for a new character in the game. There are so many options for a really fun hero that gives her so much playability and could potentially change up the meta. Just because of the lack of event skins so far, she won’t rank that high on the scoreboard. But with a few more additions, she could be soaring above the others!
