Resident Evil 6 is known for the colourful cast of characters both old and new that span over the four separate campaigns. In Leon’s campaign, Helena goes over an arc of redemption and must trust in Leon to find her own truth. In Jake’s campaign, Sherry begins as his recruiter then over time his ally in recovering his heritage and making his way through the crisis to save the world with an antidote. In Chris’ campaign, his biggest fan works side by side helping him through trauma and into a potential romance. The only enigma is Agent, Ada’s partner that only appears in a 2 person playthrough. Who are they? Why are they there?

Agent is an enigma somewhere between a being that exists between realities or within the true Ada Wong’s consciousness. They are the strong silent type uttering no more than the odd grunt throughout the campaign. Agent is decked out in non-descript combat gear, full black, fully covered. They never reveal their true face. In fact, Agent is never referred to as male or female making them the first ever non-binary character of the franchise.

Despite displaying a plethora of incorporeal abilities, Agent never shows off. They always allow Ada to have her time in the spotlight before re-joining her to face off the oncoming hoard of zombies or looming giant monstrosity. Agent’s stoic demeanour balances out Ada’s haughtiness. They never snap a remark and refrain from playfulness. Once, in a quiet park in Hong Kong, Ada was spotted playing on slides while Agent just watched from the side. Some have noted this as evidence of an obsession with Ada but they hardly created a clone to take over the world. Agent’s devotion may be more akin to unwavering loyalty and a perfect partnership.

Agent is never shocked by any reveleation, always standing steadfast besides Ada and even with a combat vehicle at the ready for whatever high speed segment may come next. In the life of Ada Wong, after a certain point, there can’t be much that can truly shock someone!

Agent prefers a classic loadout starting the campaign with just a knife and handgun, similar to Chris way back in RE1. Agent’s existence is completely dependent on Ada to the point where the majority of his abilities fail to work without her. Agent’s teleportation to vantage points require line of sight with Ada. They need her to zipline first in order to make the jump. Agent’s invisibility is irreversible without Ada in close proximity. Shockingly, Agent struggles to even enter rooms without Ada to open a door first. Agent even get so defeated when it comes to puzzles that they must be solved for them to proceed further. This may be perceived as chivalry but perhaps the truth is that Agent lacks the confidence to continue in a world without Ada Wong. They may find it easier to just disappear out of existence entirely. This may be why Agent has never made a reappearance in the franchise.

Though they have never made a reappearance in the franchise, never say never! With their abilities of invisibility, who’s to say that Agent hasn’t been there the whole time? Way back in the Mansion to present day next to Lady Dimitrescu?
